
Assistant Editor
Mr. Rithy Sem is currently the Assistant Editor at Mengly J. Quach University Press. He was born in 1990 in Romduol District, Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia, to a father who is a retired civil servant and a mother who is a housewife.
In 2015, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Khmer Literature from Royal University of Phnom Penh under a scholarship supported by the World Bank. He is currently a graduate candidate pursuing a Master’s degree in Linguistics at the Royal University of Phnom Penh with a full scholarship sponsored by the Mengly J. Quach Foundation.
Rithy’s first literary work was selected by the Magic Ink Collective for co-publication in its third edition in 2019. In addition, one of his works entitled The Glasses was selected by MJQTV for adaptation into a short film under its educational video program.
His short stories My First Day and Mr. President’s Kindness were published in the collection A Collection of Short Stories: My Role Model Dr. Mengly J. Quach. Mr. Rithy Sem also contributed works such as The Ghost of Deum Po and I’m Not Chinese’s Slave to the short story collection Money’s Slave, published by Mengly J. Quach University Press.
In addition to his published works, he has written several unpublished short stories, including The Story of the White Turmeric and Sink to the Chest.
